And I looked back at it and, every time I was arrested, I was drunk. I have never been in trouble sober. Alcohol is sneaky, even though when you think you have this thing licked and you re going about in your daily life and you're confident that you are in recovery. You start doing the things that you did before and in the back of your mind this disease is telling you it s okay. It won t be like it was before. All these things that lead up to it & you don t notice until it s too late. The combination of taking the Campral® and attending the counseling actually makes me feel like I have another tool in my tool belt to help me curb the cravings of drinking. And that s my biggest fear. It s picking up that next drink. Like they say, one is too many, 1,000 is not enough and that s exactly what it is for me. I pick one drink and I am done and I need to be scared of that but not so scared that I am actually thinking about it. So taking the Campral®, relieves me of having to think about it. I feel comfortable taking Campral®. I have to admit, at first, I was a little skeptical about taking a pill to battle alcoholic addiction. At first, I did not believe that something could actually curb these cravings, curb these desires and anxieties. When I started taking Campral®, I think after a few days, other people had asked me about the difference in me and what they had noticed in me. You know how aggravated you get when you are hungry and you can t eat, eventually you are going to eat. And that s how I was every day. I would just struggle between wanting to go inside and get a diet coke, but paying at the pump for my gas because I didn t trust myself to go in and buy just a diet coke. There were mornings after dropping off my daughters at daycare, in the early morning, that I would almost have tunnel vision to go to the store and buy something to drink, before I would even go to my sales meeting at work. I don t know what kind of stressor you can have between dropping your daughters off and making it into the office, but it had even gotten to that point where I was having something before going in to work at the office. I feel free now that I am taking Campral®, I feel like I can go through the day and do the things that I want to do, come home and play with my children, give my husband a big kiss without fear that he is going to smell alcohol on my breath. All the things I couldn t do before taking Campral®, because I lived in fear that I was going to get caught, or fear that I wasn t taking care of my children and the guilt that came along with that. And I am free of all that now; it s just not a worry. I used to think, there s no way that I ll ever be able to go the rest of my life without a drink. Maybe I can go a year maybe I can go six months.
